Investment Solutions · UMA/UMH Platform

Institutional strategies and private investments, in the same account.

A unified managed account on the Axxcess platform is divided into sleeves. One sleeve can run your own strategy, the next a third-party equity manager, the next a private credit fund. Each sleeve carries its own fee schedule and its own performance record, and the client sees all of it on one statement, in one portal, under your brand.

Custody stays with the custodian you choose. Axxcess never takes custody of client assets.

Sleeve architecture

What a sleeve is, and why it changes how you build a portfolio.

A sleeve is a partition inside a single custodial account that is managed, billed, and reported as its own strategy. Instead of opening a separate account for every manager, you assign each strategy to a sleeve of the same account. The client keeps one account number and one statement; you keep full visibility into every strategy inside it.

01

One account, many strategies

Assign multiple direct strategies to the same custodial account. Allocation reports and performance are shown for each sleeve, so you can see exactly which strategy is doing what.

02

A unique fee schedule per sleeve

Your advisor-directed sleeve can bill at one rate, a third-party manager's sleeve at another, and a private fund sleeve at a third. The client sees a single fee calculation on one statement.

03

Sleeve- and security-level reporting

Performance, holdings, and transactions are reported at the household, account, sleeve, and security level. Your client portal and the white-labeled mobile app show the same numbers as the statement.

04

Advisor-directed and third-party together

Run your own strategy as a sleeve alongside institutional managers. Use third-party strategies as stand-alone portfolio solutions or to complement what you manage yourself.

05

400+ strategies

More than 400 SMA and sleeve strategies across equity, fixed income, tactical, and alternative disciplines, proposed and allocated digitally through the Axxcess Allocator.

06

Lower cost, more tax control

Sleeves avoid the duplicate accounts, duplicate positions, and duplicate paperwork of a separate account per manager, and give you a cleaner view of tax lots across strategies when it comes time to rebalance or raise cash.

Alternatives in the same account

Private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real estate, blended into one account.

The reason most advisors report alternatives separately is that their platform can't hold them next to public securities. Ours can. Alternatives sit in their own sleeves, with the tracking that private investments require.

Private equity

Track capital commitments, capital drawn, and allocations by manager, risk, strategy, and type. MOIC and IRR are calculated on the actual cash flows.

Private credit & debt

Middle-market, platform, and hard-money lending strategies reported alongside traditional fixed income, with income and principal tracked by sleeve.

Hedge funds

Access can be direct or through institutional platforms, whichever is more advantageous for the client. Subscription documents are handled digitally; positions report into the same statement.

Real estate

Directed, syndicated, partnership, fund, and REIT holdings tracked and reported inside the account, next to the public securities they sit beside in the client's plan.

Due diligence on platform alternatives is overseen by a committee of senior investment, risk, legal, and compliance professionals. K-1 and 1099 reporting options are available. The alternatives platform →

The advisor as portfolio manager

Your strategy and the manager's strategy, side by side on one statement.

Most platforms make you choose: run your own models or hand the account to a manager. A sleeved account lets you do both, and lets the client compare them. You keep the parts of the portfolio where you add the most value and delegate the rest to specialists, without opening a second account or splitting the relationship.

How a household reads on the platform.
  • Household — every account, entity, and held-away position, aggregated.
  • Account — one custodial account number, one statement, one fee calculation.
  • Sleeve — each strategy with its own manager, fee schedule, allocation, and performance.
  • Security — holdings and transactions inside each sleeve, down to the tax lot.
  • Alternatives — commitments, drawn capital, capital calls, MOIC, and IRR, in the same view.
The comparison

A model-marketplace account versus an Axxcess UMA/UMH.

Model marketplaces put a menu of models in front of you and an asset-management fee on top. A sleeved account on the Axxcess platform is a different structure, and the difference shows up on the client's statement.

A traditional model-marketplace account
  • One model to an account; a second strategy means a second account
  • Alternatives papered, held, and reported somewhere else
  • One fee for the whole account, regardless of what is inside it
  • Performance reported at the account level only
  • The advisor's own strategy has no place in the structure
  • The platform's brand on the proposal and the statement
The Axxcess UMA/UMH
  • Many strategies in one custodial account, each in its own sleeve
  • Private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real estate in the same account
  • A unique fee schedule per sleeve, one fee calculation for the client
  • Performance at the household, account, sleeve, and security level
  • Your advisor-directed strategy runs as a sleeve beside 400+ institutional managers
  • Your brand on the proposal, the statement, the portal, and the app

The comparison describes common structures in the industry generally and is not a description of any specific firm's offering.

Questions advisors ask

The details, before the demo.

What are the minimums?

Minimums are set strategy by strategy. Each third-party manager sets the minimum for its sleeve, and those vary widely across the 400+ strategies on the platform, so we don't publish a single figure. Because sleeves share one custodial account, a household can often reach a manager's minimum without opening a separate account for it. Ask us about the specific strategies you have in mind and we will tell you the minimums before you propose them.

Which custodians can hold a sleeved account?

Schwab, Wells Fargo First Clearing, Goldman Sachs Advisor Solutions, Morgan Stanley, and leading trust companies. LPL firms using SWM accounts, and firms with a direct Fidelity or Pershing clearing relationship, are supported through their clearing with an Orion instance. The account stays at the custodian; Axxcess never takes custody. Ten or more custodial data feeds report into one engine, so a household spread across custodians still reads as one household.

Can I run my own strategy as a sleeve?

Yes. Advisor-directed sleeves are a core part of the structure, not an exception to it. You manage your strategy in one sleeve, at your own fee schedule, while third-party managers run theirs in the same account. Trading and rebalancing for every sleeve are executed by the Axxcess trading desk, and your sleeve's performance is reported the same way a manager's is.

How are alternatives reported?

Each alternative sits in its own sleeve. For private equity and private credit, the platform tracks capital commitments, capital drawn, capital calls, and distributions, and calculates MOIC and IRR on the actual cash flows. Hedge fund and real estate positions report with their valuations into the same statement and portal. K-1 and 1099 reporting options are available, and subscription documents for platform alternatives are handled digitally.

How is billing handled?

Every sleeve can carry a unique fee schedule, and the platform rolls them into one fee calculation the client sees on one statement. Fees can be assessed at the sleeve, account, or household level; monthly or quarterly; in arrears or in advance; and as asset-based, performance-based, hourly, or per-project arrangements. Billing runs on the same reconciled custodial data as the statement.
